May 11, 2024(3 events) Smithsonian Morning at the Museum (Natural History Museum) – Please contact Ashley Grady at access@si.edu for registration information. Adventure Theatre 7300 MacArthur Blvd Glen Echo, MD 20812 SENSORY-FRIENDLY CONCERT HALL TOURS – Young people with autism or sensory sensitivities are invited backstage at the Concert Hall for a small group tour. Play instruments on the stage, visit the artists’ dressing rooms, learn about how the lights and sound work, and more. All children and teens must be accompanied by an adult. Each person attending must have a free ticket. Due to the small-group nature of this program, we recommend reserving tickets in advance, which also helps us plan. Tickets may be available at the door if space remains. Strathmore (Music Center) From Gumbo to Mumbo – The writers of Keegan’s hit hip-hop musical PUSH THE BUTTON present a one-night-only performance of their original two-man show! Nominated for a 2020 Helen Hayes Award for its World Premiere at Keegan and named 2019 “Best of Fringe” at the Charm City Fringe Festival in Baltimore, FROM GUMBO TO MUMBO features a New Orleanian science teacher turned rhyme speaker (Drew Anderson) and a dreadlock-rocking Southeast DC b-boy (Dwayne Lawson-Brown) who together conjure a dynamic cauldron of hip hop, poetry, and theatre. They dig into what it means to be authentic, question the culture and politics of today, and ultimately celebrate love and the search for home. The Keegan Theatre |
