December 7, 2024(1 event) Sensory-Friendly Evening at the Garden: "Season’s Greenings" Holiday Exhibit 2024 – Join us outside of public hours for a sensory-friendly evening at our annual “Season’s Greenings” holiday exhibit! Explore model trains in the gated outdoor gardens circulating through large models of pollinators made from plant parts, as well as poinsettias and D.C. landmarks made from plants inside the Conservatory. The program will take place on Sunday, December 8th from 9am-11am. There are three entry times for you to choose from (9am, 9:30am, 10am). Sensory Friendly Morning is designed for families with neurodivergent children or teenagers to explore the museum at a quieter, less-crowded time. The recommended age for this experience is 10 and up, but all are welcome! The experience is self-guided, and guests can choose to participate in additional activities. Some exhibit elements will be adapted to accommodate sensitivities to light and sound. Prior to the event, registered guests will receive pre-visit materials to help them prepare for their visit including a social narrative and sensory map. December 15, 2024(1 event) Access to SPY: An Morning for the Neurodiverse Community – The International Spy Museum is pleased to offer a sensory friendly community program geared for families who have a neurodivergent child or an individual with sensory processing differences. What might be a mission impossible visit during normal operating hours is now mission possible. On this special access morning, the Museum has set private hours (8:00-10:00 AM) for families to enjoy an exclusive visit with less noise, fewer people, and a designated quiet room. In addition, guests can participate in a scavenger hunt, decode a secret message, and get into disguise!
